Stillbirth affects more than 21,000 families in the U.S. each year. 1 out of every 177 pregnancies in the U.S. ends in stillbirth. That rate is two times higher for Black families. In Georgia, 995 babies are lost per year due to stillbirth!

Count the Kicks is an evidence-based stillbirth prevention program that provides educational resources to healthcare providers and expectant parents on importance of tracking fetal movement.

Count the Kicks was created by Healthy Birth Day, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of stillbirth through programming, advocacy and research. Their goal is to decrease stillbirth in the U.S. by making kick counting a common practice for all expectant parents in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Why is counting kicks important?

Research shows a change in a baby’s movement in the third trimester is sometimes the earliest or only sign of distress. Count the Kicks encourages expectant parents to contact their healthcare provider right away if there is a change in what’s normal for their baby.

How it works

Use the free pregnancy app every day in the third trimester! Count the Kicks helps you record how long it takes your baby to get to 10 movements, tracks changes over time, and reminds you to count every day. It’s available in 20+ languages.
