Topic: Behavioral Screening and assessment of very young Children

The training will consist of an overview of cultural competence to include definitions of key concept, selfreflection activities, and facilitated discussion. Georgia State University/ Center for Leadership in Disability staff will offer a two follow-up calls for participants via teleconference to address ongoing issues and identify further cultural competence needs in the community

Participants will learn how to integrate their expertise (i.e. clinical skills working with infants, toddlers and preschoolers with identified mental health issues) into early childhood settings to build the capacity of other early childhood professionals to promote the social-emotional well-being of the young children in their care. Participants will learn basic principles of early childhood mental health, principles and strategies for effective Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation and identify next steps for integrating this approach in their work.
