Participants will explore the history of poverty in the United States with an emphasis on poverty and behavioral health. Participants will learn about social causation (poverty leads to behavioral health concerns) and social selection (behavioral health concerns leads to poverty). Discussions, simulations, and other activities will be used to help participants explore how their understanding and experience of poverty influences their work with families who live in poverty.
